Merino sheep

We are staying at the Bergerie Nationale, founded by Louis XVI, as a experimental farm for innovation in agriculture. It became well know for its herd of merino sheep, that the king of Spain gave Louis XVI as a gift. At the time the merino sheep were considered to have the best wool, and it was a source of great wealth. Two centuries later, the Bergerie still maintains these merino sheep intact, although its value has decreased drastically.

We are here to talk about the value of the Merino, as well as other types of sheep, and to rediscover  the important role that  wool plays in our lives.
